During Report Card Conferences our Scholastic Book Fair is Open! Teaching Faculty and Staff had to a chance to preview the book fair yesterday with a luncheon. Clifford the Big Red Dog was on campus promoting the book fair at our morning assembly. Thanks Clifford for dropping by EBC!! The theme for this year is "Camping" and the décor has an outdoor feel to it. Our scholars will have an opportunity this week to preview books and come back with their teachers to purchase items. The book fair is open to parents and families after our early dismissal. Scholars are not allowed in the book fair after school without their families. We hope that families come and support our scholastic book fair and support EBC! Every purchase made during the book fair goes towards scholastic dollars for EBC to buy new books for the library. Find a book, take an adventure, and enjoy the book fair!
Scholars at EBC Academy worked with volunteers from CIT Bank to discuss financial literacy at their grade levels. Junior Achievement is the world's largest organization dedicated to educating students in grades K-12 about entrepreneurship, work readiness and financial literacy through experiential, hands-on programs.
Junior Achievement programs help prepare our scholarsfor the real world by showing them how to generate wealth and effectively manage it, how to create jobs which make their communities more robust, and how to apply entrepreneurial thinking to the workplace. Scholars put these lessons into action and learn the value of contributing to their communities.
JA's unique approach allows volunteers from the community to deliver our curriculum while sharing their experiences with students. Embodying the heart of JA, classroom volunteers transform the key concepts of our lessons into a message that inspires and empowers students to believe in themselves, showing them they can make a difference in the world.
A special thanks from all the scholars and staff at EBC Academy to Junior Achievement and the volunteers from CIT Bank who made this happen!
Second trimester report card conferences are the week of March 27-31. All scholars will be dismissed at 1pm unless they are in our after school program with Champions. Please plan accordingly to pick up your child at 1pm unless they are in Champions. If you have any questions, please call the main office.
A special thanks to US Bank and BizWorld for providing our 5th grade scholars with an opportunity to attend a BizWorld Camp. This is the second year EBC participated with US Bank and BizWorld to further develop our scholars understanding of business startups, marketing, manufacturing, design, company shares, and so much more. This two day experience allowed our scholars to start their own company and sell their products, all while learning the ins and outs of business entrepreneurship. Thanks again US Bank and BizWorld... we hope to see you again next year!
EBC is participating again in our annual school fundraiser for blood cancer research with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. EBC has 3 weeks to raise as much money as possible to support blood cancer research. Last year EBC raised roughly two thousand dollars and this year we hope to do even more... help support our scholars and send in those pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters and if you are feeling generous you can also send in your dollar bills. Help make a change in our community!!! Go Cougars!
Our 2nd grade scholars and team will travel to Santa Ana High School to hear Disneyland's Resort Salute to America Band. The performance will be about 45 minutes and our scholars will have a chance to hear from this great program.
Studying California Missions, or studying Mission San Juan Capistrano, aligns with curriculum and the Common Core State Standards for Fourth Grade. Critical thinking and analysis skills in social studies directly apply to studying this portion of California’s history.
Field trips to Mission San Juan Capistrano provide our EBC scholars with a unique experience with history. Scholars can observe and explore the Mission’s architecture, artifacts, and historical documents first hand, as well as achieve learning goals of the CCSS. Mission San Juan Capistrano’s Exhibits, Docent Guided Tours, Audio Tours, and Education Programs are geared to meet the Common Core State Standards. Each program is designed to help students understand historical chronology, cause and effect of historical events, and multiple perspectives.
Ask your 4th grader about their trip!
EBC will be closed January 16th, 2017 in observance of MLK Jr. Day.
EBC would like to thank our families and scholars for a great school year. Our wonderful staff have provided an engaging and authentic educational experience for our scholars and everyone is looking forward to the winter break to spend time with family and friends. Enjoy your time off, get some rest, have some adventures, and we will see our scholars return January 9th.
Every year EBC Academy hosts a Family Feast to give thanks with our families, staff, and community partners before going on Fall Break. This annual tradition is always well received by our staff, scholars, and families but it also a great way for community members and business partners to be involved locally. EBC would like to again thank our business partners for making this event a success as we provided almost a thousand meals to the community: Union Bank, OC Global Medical Center, Jay’s Catering, Maldonado Flowers and Party Rentals, Farmers and Merchants, Chick-Fil-A, Doing Good Works, James Productions, and Elizabeth Luna Photography. Of course a special thanks as well to our families and staff who work tirelessly on this many other events every year. Make a difference in your community and get involved today!
