Every year EBC Academy hosts a Family Feast to give thanks with our families, staff, and community partners before going on Fall Break. This annual tradition is always well received by our staff, scholars, and families but it also a great way for community members and business partners to be involved locally. EBC would like to again thank our business partners for making this event a success as we provided almost a thousand meals to the community: Union Bank, OC Global Medical Center, Jay’s Catering, Maldonado Flowers and Party Rentals, Farmers and Merchants, Chick-Fil-A, Doing Good Works, James Productions, and Elizabeth Luna Photography. Of course a special thanks as well to our families and staff who work tirelessly on this many other events every year. Make a difference in your community and get involved today!
Angels RBI (Reviving Baseball in the Inner City) and EBC Academy partnered again for another season of baseball for our 4th and 5th grade scholars. EBC had two teams this fall season and enjoyed playing against other schools and organizations from the greater Orange County area. EBC would like to thank our parents for their support of this program – we could not do this without their help to make sure that all of our scholars have rides to the game! Thanks parents!!!! EBC would also like thank Mr. Malouf, Mr. Wilson, Mr. Calloway, and Ms. Tomas for the willingness to coach and provide a positive, safe environment for our scholars. Of course, EBC thanks Angels’ MLB and their RBI program for partnering with EBC and providing this great opportunity… it has been a hit!!!!! Go Cougars!
This year EBC is partnering with Meet the Masters Art Program to introduce our scholars to various artists throughout the school year during assemblies with their grade level. Studies have shown that art and music help our scholars get stronger in math and science as it activates the brain in similar fashions! After learning the inspiration and techniques of each Master during the assembly, the scholars are ready for the real fun. Their classroom will transform into an art studio as the art teacher leads the students on a step-by-step journey through the art project. Often in the same medium, style or subject matter as the Master, the scholars will discover their creativity while developing confidence in their own unique abilities. Every artist unit comes in multiple levels to match up to the grades offered at our school: kindergarten, beginner (grades 1 & 2), intermediate (grades 3 & 4) and advanced (grades 5). EBC is thrilled to offer a nationally recognized art program to our scholars this year! Our first artist is Vincent van Gogh but we can't wait to do work by Monet, Homer, and Picasso as well.
EBC is proud to be holding a food drive this year! It is called, “Hope for the Holidays” to benefit the OC Food Bank!! The food that is donated provides support to families for the holidays and throughout the year! The OC Food Bank is dedicated to making sure that children, families, seniors, and veterans receive your contributions. In doing this food drive, we want our scholars to understand how important it is to have compassion towards others. Giving to others in need is a great example of how to be compassionate!
We’d like to thank you in advance for everything you are able to donate and for everything you do for us and you scholars here at EBC!!! We will be collecting non-perishable food for the month of November until December 2nd.
Today was an opportunity to celebrate literature and dress up as your favorite book character. Nothing beats a good book as it's adventures can take you around the world without ever having to leave the comfort of your couch or car. Thanks to all the scholars and staff who participated today. Keep reading and taking those adventures scholars.... Gooo Cougars!
EBC celebrated Red Ribbon Week with lots of activities and events to promote healthy living. Thanks to all the parents, PPC, school staff, SAPD, and other business partners who made this week a success! We wrapped up the week with an all school assembly with the "SkateDogs" who mesmerized the audience with skateboarding tricks and competitions. EBC Cougars are drug free!
EBC would like to congratulate two of our 5th grade scholars who completed our yearlong Orange County Math Initiative program, popularly known as JIJI, within the first 6 weeks of school. Alina De Allende and Andy Pena, from Mrs. Gonzalez’s class, reached the 100% mark and were recognized at our morning assembly for their accomplishments. Both of these students worked hard at home and in school which helped them accelerate through the coursework. Both of these scholars will now begin working on challenge levels which covers 6th grade materials. EBC is proud of all of our scholars but especially these two role models for going above and beyond in their coursework. I have a feeling they might be working on the 7th grade challenge levels by winter break… Goooooo Cougars!!!
EBC's library opened up this week! Please help your child take care of their library books and return them on time. Classes have the same library time every week so books will need to be returned on their day. Ask your child when they have library so you can mark it on the refrigerator calendar. Scholars who read more are better writers! Scholars who read more get to take more adventures without ever having to leave their couch! Read with your child every day and ensure they are ready for college!
Please join us for Back to School Night August 24th from 530-7pm. EBC will run two rotations for parents to get information for the 2016-17 school year regarding their child's classroom. These two 45 minute sessions will run from 530-615PM and 615-7PM. Parents do not need to attend both sessions but this allows families with multiple scholars to participate in each scholar's classroom. We look forward to seeing all EBC Families on the 24th! If you have any questions, please call the office at 714-836-9023 or talk to your child's teacher.
All new and returning parents MUST attend our annual parent meeting. Scholars will not be able to attend class until their parent/guardian has fulfilled this requirement. Please be on time as gates close promptly at 530PM. Mark this date on the calendar now and make arrangements to stay the entire time to fulfill this requirement. EBC is looking forward to a great school year!
